About Us

Lactation Education Consultants (LEC) was formed in 2000 in order to provide on-site programming through its Certified Lactation Specialist and Certification Cram/Review courses, specific programs developed for WIC, and many other workshops. It is owned by Jan Barger, RN (retired), MA and Carole Peterson, MS, IBCLC. Other faculty include Kathy Ragland, IBCLC, CD, DONA, Dawn Kersula, MA, RN, LCCE, FACCE, IBCLC, Stephanie Hutchinson, MBA, BS, IBCLC, PMH-C, Rhonda Wudtke, RN, IBCLC, Sarah Wall, RN, IBCLC, ICCE, Jo Ann Allen, MSN, RNC-MNN, IBCLC  and Mendy Roudebush, BS, RD, IBCLC. 

Faculty for all LEC's courses are currently practicing IBCLCs who have been teaching on-site lactation education programs and/or  workshops, conferences, and seminars since 1986. The combined talents of the eight instructors bring a wealth of experience as lactation consultants in hospital, pediatric practice, private practice, WIC, and the corporate setting, as well as experience in all aspects of maternal-child health and pediatrics. Jan, Carole, and Stephanie have all served with the International  Lactation Consultant Association (ILCA) in a variety of capacities and  have taught at the college level. 

LEC provides continuing education credits for RNs (CEP/BRN Provider #14586) for the State of California Board of Registered Nursing.
